‘Pickleball NI’ is made up of representatives from all the Pickleball clubs in Northern Ireland.
It works to build Pickleball by –
- Developing and operating competitive and social tournaments and competition between clubs.
- Sourcing capital funding and lobbying councils to build Pickleball facilities
- Establishing new Pickleball Clubs throughout N. Ireland
- Creating an ‘Ambassadors’ programme to utilise volunteers to grow the Pickleball community. This has been the key to Pickleball’s growth in USA
- Purchasing essential Pickleball equipment (nets, paddles & balls) in bulk, so local clubs can purchase them at low cost. (Every club should be able to provide loan of good quality paddles to newcomers trying the game.)
- Helping clubs develop and utilise information channels – websites and social media to promote Pickleball to their local community.
- Encouraging best practice in developing and managing clubs.
- In the longer term it aims to employ a ‘Pickleball Development Officer’ to deliver taster sessions and coaching to build membership at new and established clubs and deliver the items above.
